Awesome Weekend :)

What can I say?

Awesome is the only word that comes even close :)

After a 'not great' week most of last week, a group of me and mates went to 'Bionic' at The Black Lion in Aberdare because we missed it at Evolution at the beginning of the month.

Now, I'm a huge fan of Bionic but only been to Evolution in Cardiff Bay when it's on there.

Is awesome at Evo' 'cos the venue is great and the music is my prefered hard house/trance.

But, to be fair, appart from the small venue and lack of decent air-con, it lived-up to it's 'big-bro' event at Evolution :)

Then, to make the weekend go with a 'bang' we went to Escape in Swansea where Dave Pearce was appearing.

I've been at Escape when Dave's been there a few times and knew that it was going to be a good night anyway, but what made it 'awesome' was a certain 'tune' - Solar Stone - Severn Cities :)

Was so awesome 'cos one of my clubbing mates was down for the weekend and this particular track is a favourite of both of us :)

And, of course, Dave Pearce played a brilliant set and I danced my ass off most of the night!!!

Not bad for an ageing old git ;)

I'll be seeing you all at Evo on 5th August for Bionic ;)

Kids!!!

As I was in Pontypridd shopping with the girls I got a call on my mobile from school saying that my daughter had had a minor 'accident'...

What actually happened was that some little horror had thrown a large stone at her head and given her a cut and a nasty bump.

The receptionist assured me that she was being taken care of by a trained first-aider and I arranged to go pick her up ASAP.

When I arrived at the school all was fine, appart from the fact that they didn't know which child had caused the injury.

It was just after lunch time by then so I took her home and school advised me not to send her the following day either as they only had a half day as it's end of Summer term.

As soon as we got in the car Emily started asking about going to a BBQ at her local youth club that evening.

I was a bit wary 'cos she had a slight headache, but in the end agreed as long as she took her mobile phone and made sure it was switched on.

I gave her money for drinks 'cos it was fairly hot and she doesn't like coming home for them and made her promise to come home or call me if she felt ill...

Nearly 6 hours later I was still frantically trying to ring her!!!

I'd been everywhere looking for her, but no sign...

Each child I asked said they hadn't seen her or that they'd seen her much earlier in the local park...

Hmmm...

Emily's home time on any night is 9 PM, so I was hoping that she would come in on time (although she frequently comes in a bit late).

9 PM came and went and I was just about to call the local police when in she strolls, not a care in the world or at all bothered that I'd been worried sick!!!

Her excuse for her phone being off? Battery ran out!!! But she knew this as she was promising to keep it on!!!

And the reason I couldn't find her? She'd told her friends not to tell me where she was!!!

She was actually at the BBQ, which for her is unusual as she doesn't usually stay at the club for long...

The following day though taught her a bit of a lesson because she had a bad headache and wasn't very well at my ex's where she spends the weekend.

She's fine now, but I'm dreading the next 6 weeks if the start of the Summer break is anything to go by...

Painting...

Back to the 'joys' of painting and decorating for me and my mate Laura today...lol...

We've spent a good part of last week and going to be doing the same this week, cleaning, stripping, filling, painting and whatever else at her new house.

I won't bother telling you the mess we've got ourselves in cos anyone who's ever done a whole house out knows ;)

At least my mind finds it theraputic (my bod has other ideas though).

It's going to look great when it's finished and I wish I'd taken before and after pics to show the state the council handed it over to Laura in...

But at least she'll have a beautiful home for her and her 3 boys :)

Mass Murder!!!

Today the police released the name of the first identified murdered victim - Susan Levy, a mother of two and beloved wife...

Shortly after they released the name of the next identified murdered soul - Gladys Wundowa aged just 52...

Mass murder will NEVER be justified, terrorist actions cannot be either.

What can any extremist group expect to achieve by murdering a 53 year old mother and wife who was simply travelling to work in London? And a 52 year old woman who, by chance, as all the other victims, was on the wrong train or bus at the wrong time...

The only things thier purely evil act will gain them are hatred, loathing and a grim determination from the British people that they be hunted down and brought to justice for thier terrible crimes.

The death toll has risen to 52!!!

52 innocent souls who were unlucky enough to be on the 3 tube trains and bus that were bombed last Thursday morning in what is unfolding into a living nightmare for a whole nation.

Again and for a very long time to come, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this attrocity, thier famillies, friends and all the other people who have had to deal with this abhorant, evil act.

Comet Pot-shots...

Hmmm...

Pot-shots at comets...

I'm not sure how to tackle this subject as it does raise inumerable questions as to why?

I mean, come on, if scientists really think that these huge inter-steller snow-balls did fill our oceans with water, why would they want to possibly, in theory anyway, deprive another world of this?

My own personal opinion on the subject is that scientists do seem to be acting like little boys shooting anything that moves just to see what happens!!!

Just think, there could be a planet just like ours, ripe for life waiting out there somewhere in the depths of space that has now, for the 'satisfaction' of finding out a few 'facts', that might deprived of the chance of life that our world was given millenia ago.

What would have happened if some curious race far away on another planet decided to experiment with the comets that may have deposited water on our Earth had made these comets divert from their natural course? We wouldn't be here now!!!

Sobering thought isn't it?

And an enormous argument for observation based science rather than intervening and tampering with things we know nothing about!!!

London Bombed!!!

The TV is again playing horrific images of an un-provoked terrorist attack, this time on Central London.

More than 37 dead with the number of fatalities growing , 400 walking wounded and who knows how many serious casualties all caused by what police say was a series of bomb blasts, all without warning, on 3 tube trains and 1 London Bus, in quick succession starting shortly before 9 this morning.

Initial news reports gave the incorrect cause as power surges for the blasts on the tube trains at least, but, with a growing sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach I watched the unfolding horror as it became obvious that these were a series of terrorist bomb attacks on the commuters and tourists travelling into Central London.

Unconfirmed reports attribute the bombings to Al Qaeda. The police have stated that they have not recieved any information to back this up as yet.

Tony Blair described the attacks as 'barbaric' and added "whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country''.

"The war on terror goes on," President George W. Bush told reporters at Gleneagles. "We will not yield to the terrorists."

My thoughts and prayers, for what they are, go out to the victims, families and freinds, and we all, as one nation should pray that this carnage is stopped once and for all and that those responsible pay for what they have done!

Live8.

The biggest global event we have ever whitnessed.

A grande-scale effort to influence the decisions of world leaders to eradicate poverty, starvation and all that comes with that...

9 concerts, millions of live spectators and billions of people watching around the world...

The predominant and harrowing message?

EVERY 3 SECONDS A CHILD DIES AS A DIRECT RESULT OF POVERTY!!!

I remember vividly watching the concerts almost exactly 20 years previously and am sitting here wondering today why poverty still exists.

Naive, maybe, disappointed, yes!!!

We had the opportunity to make right one of this planet's greatest needless tradgedies 20 years ago and we didn't!!!

Let's hope for Africa's sake that we get it right this time because they have suffered enough, way too much, we must put an end to it now!!!

8 of the world's most powerful men can change the future for the poorest nations.

This shouldn't be a 'can do' but a 'must do'!!! We shouldn't be watching and re-doing all this again 20 years after the fact!!!

It should have been done and poverty, disease, starvation etc. should be a horrific memory for the global community, never to be repeated.

But it isn't, and here we are again:(

We are an interdependant community and there is more than enough for everyone to live comfortably on this Earth, no need for poverty and starvation if we just share. It is a lifetime lesson that we should all have already learned and acted on.

The legacy from all this should be that this generation will be 'great' as Nelson Mandela asked, and that we finally take the lesson seriously and put right the wrongs of previous generations.
